KBO Postseason in Korea — How It Works and How to Get Tickets

A Korean ballpark is not a place where people sit quietly. There is a cheer leader, there is music, and whole sections move together.

That atmosphere is at its strongest in the October postseason. Once the standings settle, short series begin and stadiums fill.

You do not need to know the rules. It is closer to going for the sound and the movement than for the sport itself.

Choosing a stadium

There are several stadiums in and around Seoul, most within walking distance of a metro station.

For a first visit, a large, well-connected stadium is the easiest place to get a seat.

Atmosphere differs by ground. Cheering intensity, whether you can bring food in, and how steep the seating is all vary, so check the official page once you have picked one.

Getting tickets

Tickets come through the ticketing site or app each club uses. An account is often required, and registering with a foreign phone number can be awkward.

Sales usually open a few days before the game. Popular fixtures go quickly.

Some grounds release day tickets, but do not count on it in the postseason.

Seating splits into infield, outfield, and cheering sections. Sit near the cheer leader for the full experience, or high in the infield for a calmer view.

An evening at the ground

You can buy food inside, and some stadiums let you bring your own. Fried chicken and beer is the classic pairing.

Every player has their own chant. Watching the people around you and clapping along is enough to take part.

Autumn evenings get cold, especially for night games. Bring a jacket.

Games run about three hours and can go longer. Check the last train before you settle in.

Small things that help

More grounds now scan a screen rather than a paper ticket. A dead phone means no entry, so carry a power bank.

Bags are checked at the gate. Large luggage and glass bottles are usually refused.

The area empties all at once after the final out. Leaving slightly early, or waiting half an hour, both beat the crush.

If a game is rained off, each club has its own refund process. Check it when you book.

If the dates do not line up, a weeknight regular-season game has the same atmosphere and far better seat choice.
