- Yeouido is entered from Yeouinaru Station (Line 5, for the river park), Yeouido Station (Lines 5/9, for IFC and The Hyundai) and Saetgang Station (Line 9). Yeongdeungpo is Line 1 Yeongdeungpo Station (Times Square) and Noryangjin is Lines 1/9 Noryangjin Station (the fish market) — two to four stops apart.
- The essentials: Yeouido Hangang Park (★4.5, 18,352 reviews, 24 hours), The Hyundai Seoul (★4.7), IFC Mall (★4.4, 2,162; 10:00–22:00), the 63 Building (★4.3, 9,710) and Times Square (★4.5, 3,543). Cherry blossom on Yunjung-ro in April, the international fireworks festival in October.
- Honestly, Yeouido is an office district: parts of it go quiet at night and at weekends. It rewards hopping between fixed points — park, mall, observatory, market — by subway rather than wandering. Noryangjin fish market rates only ★3.9, with reviews split over pricing.

Who this is for
- Anyone timing a trip for early-April blossom or the early-October fireworks
- People who want to avoid tourist pricing at Noryangjin fish market
- Anyone planning to see The Hyundai Seoul for the architecture, not the shopping
Yeouido is a 2.9 km² island in the Han River holding South Korea’s National Assembly, its stock exchange, the main broadcasters and a cluster of skyscrapers—“Seoul’s Manhattan”. Planned and built from the 1970s, it has wide roads, wide pavements and a large park down the middle.
For visitors it comes down to three things: cherry blossom in spring (about 1,400 trees on Yunjung-ro, the road ringing the National Assembly, in early April), the river park (★4.5, 18,352 reviews; cruises and the fireworks festival), and shopping and views (The Hyundai Seoul, IFC Mall, the 63 Building). South across the bridge is the Noryangjin fish market; west is Yeongdeungpo, with Times Square and an older working district.
“So what do I do here outside blossom and fireworks season?” Here’s the thing: this guide cuts Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo and Noryangjin into 9 themes (sights, food, shopping, beauty, wellness, nature and walks, nightlife, play, art), listing only places verified on Google Maps. To be honest, beauty and nightlife are the area’s weak points. That too is Yeouido “now”, in autumn 2026. Let’s get into it.
The Most-Reviewed of the 12 River Parks! Sights — Yeouido Hangang Park, the 63 Building, the National Assembly, Yeouido Park
✔ The most-reviewed of the 12 Hangang parks
Yeouido Hangang Park (여의도한강공원) — 330 Yeouidong-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu; 5 min from Yeouinaru Station exit 2. ★4.5 (18,352 reviews), free, 24 hours. It’s the most-reviewed of the 12 Hangang parks: the cruise pier (E-Land Cruise, ★4.2, 4,718), the Seoul International Fireworks Festival in October, the spring blossom and a summer water playground are all here, with wide lawns, convenience stores and food trucks.
The 63 Building (63빌딩 / 63 Square) — 50 63-ro, Yeouido-dong. ★4.3 (9,710). Completed in 1985 at 249 m, this gold tower was Seoul’s symbol for decades. The 60th-floor 63 ART observatory doubles as an art gallery, and Aqua Planet 63 is an aquarium in the basement; a combined ticket runs ₩20,000–30,000. The river and the Yeouido skyline sit right in front of you.
The National Assembly (국회의사당) — 1 Uisadang-daero; Line 9 National Assembly Station exit 1. ★4.1 (436), weekdays 9:00–18:00, closed weekends, free. The domed main building is the symbol of Korean democracy; the grounds are open, while interior tours need advance booking (mostly in Korean). The road around it, Yunjung-ro (윤중로 / Yeouiseo-ro), carries about 1,400 cherry trees and draws millions during the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival in early April.
Yeouido Park (여의도공원) (★4.4, 6,210; 68 Yeouigongwon-ro, 24 hours) runs down the middle of the island with a Korean garden, lawns, bike paths and a preserved C-47 transport plane. The tethered balloon Seoul Dal (서울달) (★4.6, 99; weekdays 12:00–22:00, weekends 10:00–22:00) rises to 130 m and is the newest attraction on the island as of 2026.

How Do You Dodge Tourist Pricing? Food — Noryangjin Fish Market, Yeouido Lunch, The Hyundai Food Hall, Old Yeongdeungpo
✔ Ask two or three sellers before you agree
Noryangjin Fish Market (노량진수산시장) — 674 Nodeul-ro, Dongjak-gu; connected to Noryangjin Station (Lines 1/9) by covered walkway. ★3.9 (30,638), 24 hours. Korea’s largest fish market works on a simple system: buy on the ground floor, take it upstairs to be cooked (₩5,000–10,000 a head). To be honest, ★3.9 isn’t high, and the common complaint is inconsistent pricing between stalls. The fix is to ask two or three sellers, and confirm weight and price before agreeing. The 1:00–6:00 auction can be watched but not joined.
Lunch on Yeouido runs at office prices, ₩8,000–13,000 for a set meal, noodles or bibimbap. The food courts in IFC Mall B1 and The Hyundai Seoul B1 peak from 11:30 to 13:00; go after 13:00. The Hyundai’s basement food hall gathers the flagship stores of Korean bakeries and patissiers, and works for gifts too.
Yeongdeungpo keeps the food of the older city: the lanes around Times Square hold old-school barbecue, kalguksu and gopchang restaurants. Yeongdeungpo Traditional Market (★3.6, 1,268) serves locals rather than tourists, and prices show it. At night, more is open in Yeongdeungpo than on Yeouido.

A 3,300 m² Indoor Garden on the Fifth Floor! Shopping — The Hyundai Seoul, IFC Mall, Times Square
✔ A 2021 “green department store”
The Hyundai Seoul (더현대 서울) — 108 Yeoui-daero; 5 min from Yeouido Station with an underground link. Rated ★4.7, this 2021 “green department store” gave over half its floor area to public space: the fifth-floor indoor garden Sounds Forest (about 3,300 m²) sits under a glass roof. K-pop pop-ups run constantly and the basement food hall is a destination in itself. Duty-free and tax-refund counters on site.
IFC Mall (IFC몰) — 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro; direct from Yeouido Station exit 3. ★4.4 (2,162), 10:00–22:00. Three underground levels with a CGV cinema, a bookshop, fast fashion and restaurants, linked below ground to three office towers and the Conrad hotel. The place to be in rain or high summer.
Times Square (영등포 타임스퀘어) — 15 Yeongjung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu; 5 min from Yeongdeungpo Station. ★4.5 (3,543), 10:30–22:00. A 2009 mega-complex combining a Shinsegae department store, cinemas, a hotel and a large bookshop, with a wider price range than the Yeouido malls and more local families.
The three divide neatly: The Hyundai for buzz and food, IFC for location and cinema, Times Square for everyday shopping and price. For a traditional market, try Yeongdeungpo Traditional Market, or take the subway to Namdaemun or Gwangjang.

20 Minutes to Gangnam on the Line 9 Express? Beauty and Healthcare — Office-District Services (Serious Treatments Are in Gangnam)
✔ Yeouido has no beauty cluster
Plainly: Yeouido has no beauty cluster. What exists is dermatology, hair and nails aimed at office workers, with limited foreign-language service. Nobody comes here for treatments; the realistic move is 20 minutes on the Line 9 express to Gangnam—Sinsa, Apgujeong, Cheongdam (see our “Gangnam and Sinsa” guide).
What does work on Yeouido are the mall salons: nails and lashes in IFC, The Hyundai and Times Square (₩10,000–30,000) and massage in the office buildings (foot and aroma, ₩50,000–80,000 for 60 minutes). Book on Naver or Instagram; same-day slots are common.
For pharmacies and cosmetics, Olive Young in IFC and Times Square is the convenient option, and handles cosmetics tax refunds. For medical care, Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital (Catholic University) has an international clinic for travellers who fall ill — English available, check your insurance first.

An 8 km Loop of the Island! Wellness — Running the River, Cycling Yeouido Park, the Summer Pool
✔ Yeouido is made for running
Yeouido is made for running: the riverside path is flat, a loop of the island is about 8 km and the circuit of Yeouido Park about 2.5 km, marked every kilometre and well lit at night. It sits close to the Seoul Marathon route, and mornings are busy with runners.
For cycling, Ttareungi public bikes (₩1,000 an hour) have docks at Yeouido Station, the park and the river park, putting you straight onto the Hangang bike path. Yeouido to Banpo (about 6 km, 40 minutes) and Yeouido to Seonyudo (about 5 km) are the easy rides (see our “Hangang” guide).
The outdoor pool at Yeouido Hangang Park opens in July and August only (about ₩5,000 for adults, 9:00–18:00), with a children’s water playground alongside. There is no notable jjimjilbang on Yeouido; for a 24-hour spa, go to Gangnam (Spa Lei) or Dongdaemun. Hotel spas at the Conrad and other towers run ₩200,000–400,000 a course.

1,400 Trees Blooming Together in Early April! Nature and Walks — Yunjung-ro Blossom, Yeouido Park, River Sunsets, Bamseom
✔ To avoid the crush, come between 7:00 and 9:00
The cherry blossom on Yunjung-ro (윤중로) is Yeouido’s headline: about 1,400 trees, mostly king cherries, along Yeouiseo-ro around the National Assembly, blooming together in early April. During the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival the road closes to traffic and the trees are lit at night. To avoid the crush, come between 7:00 and 9:00, or a week either side of the festival. Nearest is Line 9 National Assembly Station exit 1.
Yeouido Park (★4.4, 6,210) covers about 230,000 m² in the centre of the island, with a Korean garden, lawns, bike paths and an outdoor stage. Seoul Dal, the tethered balloon (★4.6, 99), lifts from the park to 130 m for a view over the towers and the river (paid; grounded in high wind).
Sunset: the west side of Yeouido Hangang Park faces the setting sun — around 20:00 in summer, 17:30 in winter — with the Mapo and Sangam towers in silhouette. Bamseom (밤섬), the islet mid-river, is a Ramsar-listed wetland and bird sanctuary: landing is prohibited, so watch from the cruise boats or the bridges. An island nobody may enter, right beside the centre of the city, is very much the Han River.

Three Ways Out of a Crowd of a Million? Nightlife — Fireworks, the 63 View, the River at Night, Yeongdeungpo
✔ Three ways out of a crowd near a million
The Seoul International Fireworks Festival (서울세계불꽃축제) takes over Yeouido Hangang Park on a Saturday in early October, free, for a crowd near a million. People stake out spots from midday, the subway restricts entry from late afternoon, and the stations jam afterwards. Your options: get in early and sit at the back of the park, wait an hour in a convenience store afterwards, or walk across Mapo Bridge and leave from the north bank.
63 ART stays open into the evening, facing the Yeouido skyline and the river. Quieter viewpoints are the area around the floating stage in Yeouido Hangang Park and the footway of Mapo Bridge (walk from the Yeouido side); the tower cluster seen from the bridge is the most metropolitan night view in Seoul.
To be honest, Yeouido nightlife is thin. It is an office district: weekend evenings are quiet and bars are mostly in hotels and around IFC. For a drink, take Line 1 one stop to Yeongdeungpo (izakaya and barbecue around Times Square, open to 2:00), or the Line 9 express 20 minutes to Gangnam and Sinsa (see our “Gangnam and Sinsa” guide).

Sail 30 Minutes Before Sunset! Play — River Cruises, the Aquarium, Cinemas, Seoul Dal, Water Playgrounds
✔ The sailing 30 minutes before sunset has the best light
Han River cruises: E-Land Cruise (★4.2, 4,718; 290 Yeouidong-ro) sails from Yeouido, 60 minutes by day and 80 at night, for roughly ₩15,000–25,000, with dinner and seasonal fireworks sailings too. Booking online is cheaper, and the evening sailing that leaves 30 minutes before sunset has the best light.
Aqua Planet 63, inside the 63 Building, is a city aquarium best bought as a combined ticket with the 63 ART observatory. For cinemas, there is a CGV in IFC and another in Times Square, which also has the IMAX screen; foreign films run in the original language with Korean subtitles.
Seoul Dal (tethered balloon, ★4.6, 99; 68-1 Yeouigongwon-ro; weekdays 12:00–22:00, weekends 10:00–22:00) is a 15-minute ride at ₩20,000–30,000. It grounds in bad weather, so check its social media before setting out. In summer, the water playground and outdoor pool in Yeouido Hangang Park (July–August) are the family favourites.

Half the Floor Area Given Away? Art and Design — The Hyundai, IFC and Parc1, Public Art on Yeouido
✔ Worth visiting for the architecture alone
The Hyundai Seoul is known for a design brief that gave away half the sellable floor area: the fifth-floor indoor garden, the glass roof and the curving escalators make it the most-discussed Korean retail building of the past decade. It’s worth visiting for the architecture alone.
Parc1, completed in 2020, is a Richard Rogers (RSHP) design whose red exterior columns are its signature. With the three towers of IFC Seoul next door, you can compare a decade of Yeouido finance-district architecture in one place; The Hyundai Seoul and the Fairmont hotel occupy its lower floors.
Yeouido Park mixes traditional Korean pavilions with contemporary sculpture, and displays a 1958 C-47 transport plane outdoors — a reminder that the island was once an airfield. The National Assembly‘s dome and colonnade, finished in 1975, are worth seeing from the grounds. Combined with the Hangang Art Park in our “Hangang” guide, Yeouido reads as a district of river and architecture.

FAQ
When is the Yeouido cherry blossom at its best?
Early April, typically the 1st to the 10th, along Yunjung-ro (Yeouiseo-ro) around the National Assembly, where about 1,400 trees bloom together. During the Spring Flower Festival the road closes to traffic and the trees are lit at night; come between 7:00 and 9:00 to avoid the crowds.
How do The Hyundai Seoul and IFC Mall differ?
The Hyundai Seoul (★4.7), opened in 2021, is the one to look at: indoor garden, constant pop-ups, a destination food hall. IFC Mall (★4.4, 2,162) is the practical one, wired straight into Yeouido Station with a cinema and restaurants. An underground passage links them.
Is Noryangjin Fish Market worth visiting?
It is one of the largest markets in Seoul, but its Google rating is only ★3.9 and reviews often mention unclear pricing. If you go, ask two or three stalls, confirm the weight and price before buying, then have it cooked at a second-floor restaurant. The overnight auction can be watched only.
When is the Seoul International Fireworks Festival?
Usually a Saturday in early October, at Yeouido Hangang Park, free to watch. People claim spots from midday and the subway is severely congested afterwards — arrive early and wait an hour before heading home.
Is Yeouido good at night?
Honestly, no. It is an office district, quiet at weekends, with bars mostly in hotels and around IFC. For a night out, take Line 1 one stop to Yeongdeungpo, or the Line 9 express 20 minutes to Gangnam and Sinsa.
How do I get to Yeouido?
Lines 5 and 9 cross the island: Yeouido Station (Lines 5/9), Yeouinaru (Line 5, for the river park), National Assembly (Line 9) and Saetgang (Line 9). From Incheon Airport, take AREX to Seoul Station and Line 5, about 70 minutes, or limousine bus 6003, also about 70 minutes.
