Yeondong, Jeju City. Signs are packed shoulder to shoulder along a narrow lane in the New Jeju commercial district, and among them is Busan Seomyeon Yang Gopchang.
Busan is in the name, but this is a Jeju restaurant. The banner on the wall sets out what it sells in four lines.
One, thick-cut hanwoo brisket sliced by hand with a knife. Two, we use only offal prepared the same day. Three, we use only sesame oil we press ourselves. Four, we use only kimchi we make ourselves.
It is not common for a gopchang house to put up a sign saying it makes its own kimchi. And as it turned out, that kimchi was the most unexpected plate here.
The place — four lines of promise in a Yeondong lane
The address is 8 Yeondong 8-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 1st floor. It sits in the district between the New Jeju rotary and the provincial government office, with plenty of bars around, and the lane is narrow enough that walking beats driving. The phone number is 064-746-3434.
The posted hours differ by source. DiningCode gives weekdays 17:00~24:00 (last order 23:00) and weekends 15:00~24:00, while Google Maps sometimes shows something different. If you are planning a late night or a daytime visit, calling ahead is the safer move.

The room is plain. Each wooden table has a grill set into it, and the walls carry the menu, a certification plaque and a television. The absence of decoration is what gives the place its character.

Prices — premium omasum 40,000 won, brisket and the platter 38,000 won each
The wall menu lists the weight for every cut. Transcribed as written, it runs like this.
- Premium omasum 250g per person · from Jeju and New Zealand — 40,000 won
- Raw brisket 180g per person · Jeju ++ hanwoo — 38,000 won
- Mixed offal platter 350g per person · Korean — 38,000 won
- Small intestine 300g per person · from Jeju — 35,000 won
- Large intestine 300g per person · Korean — 35,000 won
- Abomasum 300g per person · Korean and American — 35,000 won
- Heart 300g per person · Korean — 33,000 won
To finish there is brisket fried rice at 10,000 won and omasum and brisket fried rice at 12,000 won. The noodles split into hot somyeon 7,000 won (for cold weather) and dongchimi somyeon 7,000 won (for hot weather). This is a place that changes its noodles with the season.

The drinks are Jeju’s own. Heobeok-sul 35,000 won and gosori-sul 35,000 won are listed separately in one corner of the menu. Gosori-sul is Jeju’s traditional distilled soju.

The meat — knife-cut brisket and same-day offal
The raw brisket arrives layered on a plate. It has not been shaved thin by machine but cut thick with a knife, so each slice differs a little in thickness. Thick seams of white fat run between the grain.

Because it is thick, you grill it differently. Lay one side down and wait until the fat renders and the edges curl before turning it. Flip it twice and eat it straight away, the way you would thin brisket, and the chew never develops.

The wall says only offal prepared that day is used. Put the small intestine on and it shrinks pale at first, then the surface sets brown. The knack is grilling it without the fat inside bursting, so the owner often watches over the first few pieces personally.
Bite in and the casing gives first, releasing the rich fat inside. This is where the line about pressing their own sesame oil becomes something you can taste. The dipping oil smells different from shop-bought sesame oil.

The side dishes — house-made kimchi and soy-pickled onion
The unexpected star here is the kimchi. The fourth line on the wall reads that they use only kimchi they make themselves, and that kimchi goes on the edge of the grill to cook.
Cut the cabbage kimchi into large pieces, set it on the edge with chillies, and as it catches and browns the sweetness comes up. It cuts the fat of the offal while working as a dish in its own right. Jeju hanwoo alongside house-made kimchi is what this place actually leaves you with.

A bowl of onion pickled in soy sauce comes as well. Thin-sliced onion sits submerged in the soy liquid, with more piled on top. One slice of meat, one chopstickful of this, and your palate is reset.

Fried rice ends the meal. Rice and kimchi go into the fat left on the grill, and the whole surface turns red. Brisket fried rice 10,000 won, omasum and brisket fried rice 12,000 won. Fried rice at a gopchang house is hard to get wrong, but fried rice at a place that makes its own kimchi is a step above.

Map and practicalities — getting there, hours, and the rating
Address 8 Yeondong 8-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 1st floor
Phone 064-746-3434
Hours weekdays 17:00~24:00 (last order 23:00) · weekends 15:00~24:00 (per DiningCode)
It is inside the New Jeju Yeondong district, so there is plenty of accommodation nearby and it is easy to reach on foot. The lane is narrow, so parking means using a nearby public car park. The posted hours vary slightly between sources, so calling before you go is the sure thing.
The rating gets stated honestly. This site uses Google Maps ★4.5 with 100 or more reviews as its threshold for a recommendation. As of September 2026, Busan Seomyeon Yang Gopchang has ★4.0 with 73 reviews. Both the score and the sample fall short.
Google Maps also sometimes shows a “main branch” using the same phone number, marked as closed. If a search turns up two entries, check which one is trading before you set out.
The reason for writing it up anyway is those four lines on the wall. Hanwoo brisket cut by knife, offal only from that day’s preparation, sesame oil pressed in house, kimchi made in house — a place that posts those four things works to keep them. A score of ★4.0 does not, I think, capture all of that effort.
FAQ
How much does it cost for two?
Ordering two cuts comes to around 70,000~80,000 won. Raw brisket at 38,000 won plus the mixed offal platter at 38,000 won makes 76,000 won, for example, and adding fried rice at 10,000 won is a common way to round it out.
What are the portion weights?
Per the wall menu: premium omasum 250g per person, raw brisket 180g per person, mixed offal platter 350g per person, and small intestine, large intestine, abomasum and heart 300g per person each.
Where does the meat come from?
The menu lists the origin for each cut. Raw brisket is Jeju ++ hanwoo, small intestine is from Jeju, premium omasum is from Jeju and New Zealand, large intestine and heart are Korean, and abomasum is listed as Korean and American.
What makes the kimchi special?
The wall states that the house uses only kimchi it makes itself. Cooked on the edge of the grill the sweetness comes up, and it cuts through the fat of the offal.
What are the opening hours?
Per DiningCode, weekdays 17:00~24:00 (last order 23:00) and weekends 15:00~24:00. The listings vary slightly between sources, so checking on 064-746-3434 is the sure thing.
